Theatre Facilities at Fullerton College

The Theatre Arts Building (1300) is the second building north of the corner of Lemon and Chapman Avenues on the Southwest section of the campus. Constructed in 1967, the 1300 building contains the Campus Theatre, The Bronwyn Dodson Theatre (1319), Room 1310, the Scene Shop (1313), the Theatre Arts offices (1316), The Makeup and Dressing Rooms (1317), and the Costume Shop (1329C). The building also currently includes the campus radio station and multiple faculty offices.

 

The Campus Theatre

The Campus Theatre is a proscenium theatre with an audience capacity of 536 seats. As the primary performance space on campus, the Campus Theatre is utilized year round for many college events including Theatre Arts Department, Music, and Dance department productions and Music Department concerts. This large stage space is perfectly suited to accommodate various different production styles, while still being intimate enough to adjust to a smaller production. With a state of the art lighting system by Electronic Theatre Controls, a concert quality sound system, an orchestra lift, and a full fly system this venue can accommodate any production with ease. The proscenium opening is 45 feet by 24 feet.

The Bronwyn Dodson Theatre

The Bronwyn Dodson Theatre, a black box theatre, named after former student Bronwyn Dodson, can accomodate up to 150 audience members. A flexible seating systems allows for proscenium, thrust, semi-thrust, arena, and alley configurations to the theatre. All performances in the Bronwyn Dodson Theatre are produced by the Theatre Arts Department. One half of the mainstage productions, the Playwrights Festival, Directors Festival, and class projects perform in the Bronwyn Dodson Theatre.

 

Wilshire Auditorium

The Wilshire Auditorium, a proscenium theatre with a forestage extension, is located on the campus of the Wilshire School of Continuing Education, adjacent to Fullerton College. Seating capacity is 415. The extended thrust provides an intimate connection to the audience area, while the full stage space can be used to accommodate larger productions. The Wilshire Auditorium houses full lighting capabilities with superb, natural acoustics for vocal performance while the sound system can handle many mixing duties. The proscenium opening is 25 feet nine inches but the forestage is 31 feet wide and 16 feet deep. The stage floor upstage of plasterline is 15 feet deep.
