About the Event

The Florentine Straw Hat, is an extended chase sequence, as groom-to-be Fadinard hares around Paris on his wedding day in search of a replacement straw hat for Anaïde's hat, which was inadvertently eaten by his horse! At gunpoint, Anaïde's lover Emilio demands that Fadinard find a replacement hat, lest her husband Beaupertuis suspect her of infidelity. Desperate to find an exact replica, Fadinard leads his entire wedding party on this search - first to the milliner's shop, then to the villa of the Baroness of Champigny. Nino Rota's score, full of melodic lyricism, beauty, charm, and wit highlights the ridiculous situation, which becomes increasingly surreal as more individuals are drawn into his ever-burgeoning comic odyssey!
